2024 has been a landmark year for RAYDEL, marked by global recognition, groundbreaking collaborations, and continued contributions to health science. Here’s a look at our key achievements that underscore our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships.

1. Managing Director Byong Ku Lee Honoured with the Carlos Finlay Medal

At the beginning of the year in April, RAYDEL attended BioHavana 2024, a global scientific and business congress held in Cuba, serving to foster innovation in health and collaboration among scientists, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. At the opening ceremony, RAYDEL’s Managing Director, Byong Ku Lee received the prestigious Carlos Finlay Medal from the Cuban government. This medal, rarely awarded to foreigners, recognises significant contributions to science and humanity.

Lee’s enduring relationship with Cuba began in 1997 with his introduction to Policosanol, a revolutionary cholesterol-management compound derived from sugarcane wax. Over 27 years, he has championed Cuban biotechnological innovations, introducing Policosanol to Korea, Australia, Japan, and Taiwan, and elevating its global profile.

Lee’s contributions extend beyond commerce. During theCOVID-19 pandemic, RAYDEL supported Cuba with essential medical supplies, including vaccine cassettes, oxygen generators, and 1 million KF94 masks, underscoring our commitment to global health.

Cuban Vice President Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella hailed Lee’s efforts, emphasizing the potential for deeper collaboration between RAYDEL and Cuba in pharmaceutical and biotechnology advancements.

2. Participation in the 2024 HDL Workshop, Chicago

In May, RAYDEL participated in the esteemed HDL Workshop held in Chicago, Illinois. A meeting traditionally held alongside the American Heart Association's Vascular Discovery event, this workshop is known for fostering dialogue among researchers, clinicians, and pharmaceutical companies, offering an invaluable platform to showcase our contributions to HDL research.

Our Korean, Japanese, and Australian branches collaborated to ensure a successful presence, achieving significant outcomes aligned with our goals:

  • Engagement Activities: RAYDEL presented Cuban Policosanol’s HDL Cholesterol Efflux Capacity (CEC) study, and reinforced our key message of enhancing HDL quantity, quality, and functionality.
  • Collaborative Initiatives: Meetings with leading academics like Prof. Theo (USA) and Prof. Annand (USA) laid the groundwork for future clinical studies, while     discussions with Prof. Cho (S.Korea) and Prof. Saku (Japan) highlighted emerging research on HDL’s role in brain health.

Moving forward, RAYDEL then committed to host a dedicated“2024 HDL Symposium” in Korea and establish an “HDL Study Society” to promote continued advancements in this critical area.

3. Recognition by the Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC)

In August, RAYDEL Australia achieved a significant milestone by being named a finalist at the prestigious ALABC Business Excellence Awards. The awards celebrate outstanding trade and investment achievements between Australia and Latin America, focusing on innovation, growth, and ESG practices.

This recognition reflects our strong partnership with Cuba, renowned for its scientific expertise and natural resources. By sourcing premium ingredients like beeswax and sugarcane wax alcohols, we ensure the highest quality in our products.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to our loyal customers whose unwavering support fuels our mission. This honour inspires us to continue delivering innovative health solutions while fostering international collaboration.

4. 2nd Symposium on the Longevity Factor HDL

Later that month, RAYDEL proudly sponsored and participated in the 2nd Symposium on the Longevity Factor HDL, held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul. This prestigious event brought together leading researchers to discuss the crucial role of HDL (high-density lipoprotein) in vascular health and longevity.

HDL, the body’s only mechanism for removing cholesterol from vascular endothelium, plays a pivotal role in preventing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The symposium highlighted the latest findings, including the impact of HDL on heart and brain health and innovations in raising HDL levels. Our presence at this global gathering reaffirms our dedication to advancing research that promotes better health outcomes for all.

Looking Ahead

2024 has been a year of immense growth and achievement for RAYDEL. From advancing HDL research to strengthening global partnerships and earning international acclaim, we remain steadfast in our mission to improve lives through innovative, natural health solutions.

As we look toward 2025, we are excited about the possibilities ahead and remain committed to fostering health, sustainability, and collaboration worldwide. Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we are building a healthier future.
