From a poor immigrant to a global leader bringing health and well-being to the world.
1. From Humble Beginnings
Born in post-war Korea, our founder faced extreme poverty. He left school to support his family, taking on jobs from newspaper delivery to construction work. Determined to learn, he attended night school and earned his middle school diploma.
2. A Bold Journey to Australia
In 1982, with only $600 and a dream, he immigrated to Australia. He worked tirelessly as a sewing machinist, construction labourer, cleaner, and weekend market vendor, saving every penny to pursue his vision of improving health through natural medicine.
3. The Birth of RAYDEL
In 1986, he opened a small health food store in Sydney, sowing the seeds of a global healthcare company. By 1992, the business began exporting to S. Korea.
Today, RAYDEL produces naturally derived, evidence-based complementary medicines in a GMP-certified facility in Sydney, serving both the Australian and global markets.
4. Flew to Cuba: The Discovery That Transformed RAYDEL
In 1997, he discovered scientifically researched, innovative original active ingredients, first invented and developed in Cuba – sugar cane wax alcohols (policosanol) and beeswax alcohols – a milestone that marked a turning point for RAYDEL.
Just think of the long journey from Australia to Cuba back then. Nothing could stand in his way as he searched for ingredients that benefit health.
5. Achieving Global Recognition
Through perseverance, he grew a modest store into a company headquartered in Australia, operating entities in 13 countries as of today.
His journey was recognized in 2024 with the Carlos Finlay Medal, often referred to as Cuba’s Nobel Prize.
6. Life is Short, So We Must Be Happy
He lives by one belief: life is short, so we must be happy.
Happiness begins with health, which starts deep inside—
in our 120,000 kilometres of blood vessels and the cells that keep us alive.
He teaches how to raise HDL, often called “good cholesterol,” which is not cholesterol itself but a carrier of cholesterol that supports heart health and overall well-being.
To share this wisdom, he works tirelessly day and night.
7. His Life, Captured in The Best Option
In 2025, His story is shared in Best Option, detailing how a middle school graduate became a global health pioneer.
In this book, rather than telling you how to choose the best option, he shows you how to make your choice the best.
The journey continues. By establishing the RAYDEL HDL Research Institute and expanding globally, he remains committed to bringing health and well-being to people worldwide.
